Starship sail

Little wind, motored a lot. Hit fog bank off the point; turned around early.

Tuesday sail on Starship—aka “Pelican poke” sail

Headed out of Harbor Island West with Skipper Lee and crew of five: Maria, Tiffany, Carolina, Meredith and Peggy. Motored over to Kona Kai to say hello to Hans and Mark, then set sail for the open ocean. We headed out on a beam reach, with a gentle breeze and calm sea. When we came across what looked like an injured pelican, we came back around to see if we could possibly detangle him. Unfortunately he had already passed away. We used the opportunity to practice Man overboard drills. I also taught the crew how to heave-to. Came back to a nearly perfect landing. Great sail today!!
