Sail with us from Vigo to Cowes on board VO65 Sisi! This offshore delivery takes us from Vigo in northwestern Spain across the Atlantic and into the English Channel, finishing in Cowes on the Isle of Wight. The route covers approximately 700 nautical miles and offers a true taste of offshore sailing aboard a VO65. What makes this passage special is the variety of conditions and the challenge of sailing continuously offshore. Leaving the Spanish coast behind, the route takes us across the open Atlantic before approaching the English Channel, where careful navigation and changing weather conditions become increasingly important. Depending on the forecast, expect a mix of fast reaching, upwind sailing and potentially challenging conditions as we make our way north. Wind, sea state and weather systems will determine our speed and the exact routing throughout the delivery. After several days offshore, arriving in Cowes marks the end of an immersive ocean sailing experience. Step ashore after hundreds of nautical miles at sea, having experienced the rhythm of watch systems, sail handling and life aboard a high-performance VO65. CHARTER AGREEMENT Each participant is responsible for their own travel arrangements, accommodation, and meals. The crew consists of professional sailors from our team who have expertise in the VO65 and will provide instruction on the boat, as well as international professional sailors and some clients. The entire crew will be divided into shifts at the beginning, so sleeping and sailing on deck will be done in shifts. Life jackets with AIS transponders are available on board. We would like to reiterate that we are powerless against unforeseen circumstances. In the event of serious damage to the ship or weather forecasts that make it impossible for us to set sail (danger to people and ship), we cannot refund the costs of missed flights, transfers, or regattas. We recommend allowing at least one extra day for your return journey. Furthermore, we advise taking out travel cancellation insurance, as short-notice changes can occur during these uncertain times. The catering (organized by us), marina mooring fee and diesel (i.e. all onboard expenses) are already included in the ticket price. Alcohol is strictly prohibited on board. When entering or transiting through other countries, please note that you may need visas, ESTA, residence permits, medical certificates, etc. Please note: Changes and postponements may occur. Therefore, we ask you to wait to book accommodations, flights, etc., until you receive final confirmation from us, so that cancellations and postponements can be avoided. For further information, please contact us.

Trip Itinerary: Vigo to Cowes

Why We Love This Sailing Race

Blast from the Azores to the Solent on this final upwind leg of the transatlantic crossing. Get that bluewater ocean fix for a fraction of the time away.

1

Start - Vigo

North from Spain, across the Bay of Biscay, and into the English Channel. Open Atlantic, changing conditions, and a proper offshore passage from start to finish. The Bay of Biscay tests you. The Atlantic rewards you. One sea, shifting conditions, and the kind of miles where you feel the power of Sisi.

2

End - Cowes

Landfall ±1 day. The Isle of Wight appears slowly. The beer tastes better when you've earned the view.

What will the type of sailing be like?

This is not a passenger trip. It’s a fully immersive offshore sailing experience. You’ll join the crew of VO65 Sisi, a pure-bred ocean racing yacht originally built for the Volvo Ocean Race – one of the toughest sailing competitions on the planet. These 65-foot carbon race machines were designed to cross oceans at speed in extreme conditions, and only a handful of them are still sailing today. Life on board is exactly what you would expect from a professional ocean racing yacht: functional, stripped-back and focused entirely on performance. There’s no luxury interior here, just pipe cots, navigation stations and a deck built for constant sail handling and teamwork. Every person on board becomes part of the crew. You’ll rotate through watch systems, trimming sails, grinding, navigating, helming and managing sail changes alongside an experienced professional team. Sisi’s powerful sail plan and canting-keel design make for exhilarating speeds and demanding manoeuvres, even on a delivery passage. Before departure, the team runs training sessions so everyone becomes familiar with the boat, systems and essential manoeuvres. Once we leave Vigo behind, you’ll be fully integrated into the crew and ready for the offshore passage north towards Cowes. The delivery takes us from the Spanish Atlantic coast across open waters and towards the English Channel. Conditions will determine our speed and routing, with the possibility of fast reaching, upwind sailing and changing weather as we make our way north. As the passage progresses, navigation becomes increasingly important as we approach the busy waters of the English Channel and the Solent. The result is a rare opportunity to experience genuine offshore sailing on one of the world’s most powerful monohull race yachts, sailing day and night as part of a professional crew. Expect long watches, sail changes, adrenaline-fuelled helming, high-speed sailing and the kind of teamwork that only life offshore produces. After hundreds of nautical miles at sea, arriving in Cowes marks the end of an unforgettable VO65 experience.
