Moonshadow of Kip
Moody 33 Mkii
After sea trials this is Moonshadow's first sail of the 2026 season after her winter refit. She now has a black waste holding tank, new TruDesign thru-hulls, new mast electrics and radar reflector, and a brand new Beta 35 engine fitted by RB Marine. Also a shiny new Featherstream propeller. Initial trials showed a problem with the gearbox drive plate which Beta replaced in a few days. We also found a few leaks from the TruDesign thru-hulls. An extra few days on the hard sorted all that. (It turns out TruDesign thru-hulls are more tricky to fit than DZR). The rig still needs to be properly tuned but in 15 knots of wind we hit 7 knots easily with new feathering prop and the engine happily purred along giving us 4 knots at 1500rpm (6.5 knots at 2,800rom). Happy day!
