White Island race - Mariquita Boarded Mariquita, Jaimie's boat, for the White Island race. Only 4 boats total but oh well (Odyssey, SeaWitch and Kintyre). Motored to the start line, had to wait to let a tanker get out, then on our way. Doing 5/6 kts, awesome, got to skip for a good long while. Then hit a dead spot and got caught in the current. We were sailing 1-2 kts and still going backwards! Decided to pull the pin and go back. Still 7 hours on board with cracking weather. Saw petrels, albatross (2 species, southern royal and mollymawk), dolphins and seals! Happy days
