After a busy winter season in the Caribbean, Sail Racing Academy will be heading back to the UK from Antigua via the Azores. This trip offers our crew members the opportunity to fulfil a life long dream to cross the Atlantic. The trip will also give you the opportunity to visit the beautiful Azores. From there, you can disembark, or you can stay with us to return our fleet to Hamble. Though Sail Racing Academy is all for everyone enjoying themselves, safety remains our top priority. For peace of mind, we have spared no expense in ensuring that our boat is equipped to the highest level.
A proper Atlantic crossing from Antigua to the UK with the classic sailor’s stop in the Azores along the way. Big ocean miles, watch systems and the quiet satisfaction of ticking “crossed the Atlantic” off the list.
Day 1 and 2 Arrive in Antigua. Meet the boat and skipper and undertake familiarisation exercises and training. Sail to St Maarten on Day 3.
Day 4 Arrival in St Maarten. Arrival in St Maarten. Stay there for training and preparations. As this ocean crossing takes place at the end of the Caribbean season, the boat will require a significant amount of maintenance. Everyone will be involved in cleaning, organising, and carrying out essential maintenance tasks to ensure she is in top condition for the passage. These days will be busy and hands-on, but they are a crucial part of getting the boat and crew ready for the journey ahead. Depart for Azores on Day 8.
Day 23 Approximate arrival date into the Azores. Either disembark, or a quick stop over and rest before continuing back to the UK. Depart for UK/Ireland on Day 25
Day 41 Approximate arrival date in UK/Ireland. Before departure, we kindly ask everyone to help with a general cleaning and tidying of the boat.
Our Mission is simple: Provide fun, safe and rewarding sailing opportunities at an affordable price. Not everyone can afford a racing yacht or has friends or family that can. This should not be a barrier to entry. We keep costs low by involving everyone in the process and showing them the reality of what it takes to sail and race offshore. Our goal is to get as many people as possible to participate and leave having had the experience of a lifetime. We believe in putting safety first and allowing everyone to experience offshore racing in a supportive environment. We’d like to finish top of the leader board but the individuals on board will always come first.

We aim to provide a high standard of organisation and instruction on our boats. However, sailing inherently involves certain uncontrollable factors. Weather conditions can vary from strong winds to calm seas and the nature of sailing means operating in close quarters and demanding conditions. Due to these inherent challenges, regular maintenance and repairs are to be expected on board. Since our sailing trips cater to various experiences – ranging from offshore races and mile builders to transatlantic crossings – we encourage you to reach out to us directly with any questions about what to expect. It’s important to understand there are no passengers on board, only teammates.
