The Channel Race offers sailors an exciting and challenging experience, whether you’re looking to refine your existing skills or take on new learning opportunities. This race covers 110 to 160 nautical miles, navigating around the Isle of Wight and key marks in the Solent. It combines coastal and offshore elements that require a strategic mix of skill, endurance, and adaptability. Ideal for both seasoned sailors and those eager to develop their racing skills, the Channel Race is renowned for its dynamic course. Competitors face varying wind patterns, tidal streams, and navigation challenges, all set against the scenic backdrop of the English Channel and the Isle of Wight. We recommend you arrive the day/night before.
The RORC Channel Race is an excellent way to get back into offshore racing, starting and finishing in the Solent. With a flexible course that weaves between virtual marks in the English Channel, you can usually predict your finishing time quite accurately, making it one of the most time-efficient offshore races around.
Day 1 Join us in the evening for a social meal at a local restaurant in Hamble. You are welcome to stay on board this evening.
Day 3 Before departure, we kindly ask everyone to help with a general cleaning and tidying of the boat.
Our Mission is simple: Provide fun, safe and rewarding sailing opportunities at an affordable price. Not everyone can afford a racing yacht or has friends or family that can. This should not be a barrier to entry. We keep costs low by involving everyone in the process and showing them the reality of what it takes to sail and race offshore. Our goal is to get as many people as possible to participate and leave having had the experience of a lifetime. We believe in putting safety first and allowing everyone to experience offshore racing in a supportive environment. We’d like to finish top of the leader board but the individuals on board will always come first.
They offer a range of small group and authentic sailing experiences, from Caribbean cruising to Ocean racing, at a budget to suit most.
