The Morgan Cup Race is an offshore yacht race organized by the Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC). In a break from its recent run of Dartmouth finishes, the Morgan Cup will once again, after eight years, be bound for Guernsey in the Channel Islands this season. It is one of the qualifying races for the Rolex Fastnet Race although this year we’re just doing this for fun and to give an offshore racing opportunity to our non-Fastnet crews.
This short offshore race - or is it a long coastal race - keeps tacticians on their toes as the fleet races around numerous headlands and tidal gates. Racing on a Reflex 38, you'll be right in the mix of this competitive fleet.
4.8/5•62 ReviewsAt LSS we are all about creating cracking experiences to be shared by a growing community of seafaring adventurers! Whether it is exploring the Caribbean Islands, racing around the Fastnet Rock, learning what on earth all this sailing malarky is on about, or just watching the sun go down with a cold beer/gin/wine. Sailing is an excellent facilitator of all of these. LSS was conceived in 2014, by our founder Ruaraidh Plummer. Inspired by instructing hundreds of Yacht and Dinghy training courses and seeing how the majority of students rarely put it into practice before forgetting everything. After teaching dinghy sailing in Vassiliki for 6 years and seeing how receptive people are to learning in a friendly environment, we’ve set out to help sailors learn from the ground up. LSS merged with Equinox Sailing in 2017 and was reborn from the success of this partnership in 2019, to better serve our community.
LSS have a knack for bringing in excellent instructors to run their certificated courses. They’re friendly and approachable, but also bring real depth of knowledge backed up by broad, real-world sailing experience.

Good to know In case there are boat chores required ahead of the race, you might be asked for a little support by your skipper. It would be great if you could help out if necessary. As a long-distance race, be aware that you will be operating a watch system. This normally means that a crew is split up and alternates being on / off watch. Often it's 4hr shifts with shorter shifts from 16.00-18.00 and 18.00-20.00 to ensure that you are not always on watch at the same time of day/night.
Your specific vessel is assigned based on your selected dates. All vessels meet our high standards for comfort and safety.
