Fly direct to St Helena island from Johannesburg (not included in price) — and for the first few days, this isolated, friendly and incredible island is yours to explore. Accommodation on the island is included. Time to acclimatise, meet your crew, run through passage planning, and provision the yacht for what lies ahead. Then you cast off and head south-west into the South Atlantic. The return route to Cape Town doesn't run east — it follows the St Helena High, arching deep into open ocean before the weather system carries you back toward the Cape. Around 4,000 miles. Weeks from the nearest coastline. Big Atlantic swell, proper long watches, and skies dark enough to make celestial navigation not just possible but essential. If you're building miles toward an RYA Offshore or Ocean qualification, this passage delivers them in conditions that mean something. You'll be an active crew member of six under a world-class skipper who runs this route four times a year — helming, watch-keeping, nav duties, weather routing. As much responsibility as you want, properly guided throughout. This is not a cruise. It's a genuine ocean crossing. Duration: ~3 weeks including time ashore on St Helena.
The chance to take on an ocean crossing route that few others have attempted.
