Sail South. Watch the Sky Explode. Join Ninja Penguin Adventures for a spectacular 2-day voyage along the stunning South Devon coast — culminating in two unforgettable nights beneath the blazing skies of the British Firework Championships in Plymouth Sound. This is a hands-on sailing adventure aboard a classic cruising yacht, blending coastal exploration, practical seamanship, and front-row seats to one of the UK’s most incredible summer events — seen the way it should be: from the water. Sail past rugged headlands and hidden coves, stand watch at sea, help handle the yacht, then settle in for an unforgettable evening as the championship fireworks erupt across Plymouth Sound around you. This is not a crowded tourist boat trip — it’s a real sailing experience with atmosphere, adventure, and an unbeatable view.
Take in the the British Fireworks Championships in true style!
UK-based sailing venture focused on offshore passages, coastal exploration, and real-world adventure at sea. Run by a hands-on sailing family, we document and share the realities of life afloat — from passage planning and seamanship to discovering remote anchorages and new coastlines. Our approach is practical, experience-led, and grounded in cruising rather than racing. Whether crossing open water or exploring closer to shore, Ninja Penguin is about building confidence, embracing the elements, and seeing the world from the deck of a boat.
A seriously capable Bowman 57, ambitious routes and a very down-to-earth approach make their trips feel like the sort of sailing people talk about wanting to do, then actually end up doing.
The voyage begins in the historic sailing town of Dartmouth, one of the UK’s best-known cruising destinations. After safety briefings and departure preparations, the yacht heads west along the beautiful South Devon coastline towards Plymouth Sound and the British Firework Championships.
Plymouth Sound becomes the centre of one of the UK’s biggest summer spectacles during the British Firework Championships. From the deck of Ninja Penguin, guests enjoy front-row views of the championship displays away from the crowds ashore, surrounded by the atmosphere of yachts, harbour lights, and fireworks reflected across the water.
