Little wind, sunny. Sailing lesson with Na Vela Paraty Instrutora: Carol Melchor

Crew of 4. Tom, Angus, Claire. Me. Belfast to Sail Maine. Overcast, then sunny, and clear. dense fog near end of trip. Some motoring in order to make it before sundown.

Racing Blitzen (Christmas Cove 21) with Giovanna and Geoff. Placed 5th and 2nd in the two races.

Racing on Quill (Sonar) with Giovanna on job and now and Randy on main and spin.

Perfect start right at the horn. de-powered right before the line and essentially parked for 30 seconds until the horn. Entire fleet behind us. Slow spin setup due to sopping wet chute… Flew the battle flag I made for the first time, will need adjustments, spin halyard shackle too big for the grommet. Some boats confused about the course, wanted to protest race committee re: shortened course and lack of shortened course flag. Some discussion on chucking the whole race. Fouled by another boat near the finish line. They finished, we had not finished yet. Successfully avoided collision by altering course, loosing speed, and finished with a slower time. Finished last, but owed time by the larger boats.

Raced on Quill. I skippered and Giovanna trimmed jib, spin, and foredeck. Placed 6/8

Raced on Quill (Sonar) with Giovanna, Jessy, Jess, Ella, and Candace. Course: Start at Moshier can, south to drop mark, Googins nun, to finish. Race cancelled due to wind dying.
