Impulse Too home to Largs phase 3

Wind between 4 and 6 knots most of the way. Quietest I have seen the overfalls! Surfed the tidal stream to a top speed over the ground of 10.3 knots. Brilliant fun. Top wind speed 12 knots so managed a wee sail at the end of this leg. Where to next???

Impulse Too going home to Largs

So what so bad about sailing in Scotland? Nice and sunny does it every time. Also meteor light show.

Shell Regatta 2024

Solway Voyager: Light winds 3 - 4 knots hardly moving whole way. Weather: Brilliant sunshine with most of the day spent sunbathing. Not for easily frustrated sailors 💨

JST VOYAGE TNS638

Arrived on Tenacious on Sunday 17/09/2023 at West India dock. Booked in settled down and met up with the rest of the watch. Had initial safety briefing by permanent crew. Monday: weather absolutely abysmal as per weather reports . Going nowhere! Tuesday: 14:30 take off down the Thames with thoughts of anchoring off Margate. Anchored at 22:30. Weighed anchor late Wednesday to track down to around Portland before hanging a left to head down toward Jersey. From Wednesday evening through to Friday was via engine or motor sailing. Friday: all sails required were presented to drive vessel on without the use of engines. Saturday: lined up to arrive in Jersey All went well in fairly benign conditions and berthed in Jersey just prior to lunch. Perfect timing 😊.

Manual Entry

Homeward voyage

Lovely sail down the sound of Mull for around 10Nm. 2 reefs in. Then very little for 5Nm before hitting strong winds and choppy seas. Dunstaffnage marina not easy in these conditions. Tidal stream running at 4 knots while attempting to get in to fuel up and berth. Very interesting!!
