Started sailing in 2017 when we bought a West Wight Potter. I took ASA 101 and we sailed her until 2023 mostly on the Sasafrass River. Started racing in 2023 to present. In 2024 I took the weeklong live aboard ASA 101,103,104 course in the San Juan Islands on a 37 ft Beneteau. We purchased a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 37 September 2024

Sail to Annapolis for the Boat Show

Downwind sail until under the bridge then we had a nice reach. Gusty with rolly seas. Had one reef in for most of the day, had to put a second one in for a little while and reefed the head sail. Shook them all out after the bridge.

Boat delivery and Race to MYA

Delayed start and shortened course but enough wind to race. We saw 4-9 kn of wind and flew the spinnaker for 2 of the 3 legs. Preliminary results were 7/10. Couldn’t figure out why we were so slow after Creighill Light.

Eventful boat delivery

When starting the engine at the dock, there was no water flow. After blowing out the line, a mangled jellyfish seemed to shoot out from the area of the intake. Engine worked great getting out to the bay. We had a great close hauled sail to back creek. After running the motor for 10 minutes it overheated and we had to sail onto the mooring ball. Thankfully Alan had experience with this and directed the show. This was my first time helming under sail in the dark. We got up to 7kn boat speed
