Conditions:
•  Weather: Beautiful clear blue sky, no clouds all afternoon
•  Wind: East to North-East, around 15 knots average; noticeably shifty with some solid gusts in the first half, then gradually easing off and dying down later
•  Sea state: Calm, flat water throughout – perfect for harbour sailing
•  Visibility & vibe: Crystal-clear winter day, stunning harbour backdrop with the city skyline sparkling

Conditions:
•  Weather: Sunny, clear blue sky, no clouds
•  Wind: North East, steady 10–15 knots
•  Sea state: Calm, flat water
•  Temperature: Pleasant (typical perfect winter sailing day in HK!)
Activities:
We kicked off the day with a solid 45-minute training session before the first gun. Focused on sharpening the basics:
•  tacks,gybes
•  Hoisting, trimming, and dousing the spinnaker
Everything felt sharp and the crew was in good rhythm. I prolly needa practice more
Racing – 2 Races completed (Ruffian 23 class)

Race 1 – Course 325
•  Start: North of the line
•  Marks: HH → TKS → E1 → TKS → Finish at DB A nice longer course with a good mix of upwind work, a reach, and the downwind leg back. The NE breeze gave us consistent pressure, and the flat water made for fast, enjoyable sailing. Spinnaker sets and drops went cleanly.

Race 2 – Course 322
•  Start: North of the line
•  Marks: HH → TKS → Finish at DB Shorter and punchier – straight upwind to TKS then a fun run to the finish at DB. Kept the momentum going and enjoyed the classic harbour views.

Voyage/Passage: Sun Hung Kai & Co. Around the Island Race 2025, Hong Kong (RHKYC) – Circumnavigation of Hong Kong Island
From/To: Victoria Harbour (start/finish line off Kellett Island)
Distance: Marked course 26 NM; Effective distance sailed through water ~30 NM 
Underway: 0830 – 1630 (8 hours)
Sails/Engine: Sailed throughout (no engine hours logged)
Weather & Conditions:
Northeasterly winds 8-13 knots. Scattered clouds in the morning, building to rain-bearing clouds after 1500 with light patchy rain. Seas generally calm; choppy waters and wind holes encountered around Big Wave Bay area.
Notes/Narrative:
Participated in the annual Around the Island Race (26 NM marked course). Steady breezes allowed good progress early on, with mostly reaching/downwind legs. Some upwind tacking required, contributing to extra distance sailed. Challenging patches in Big Wave Bay with variable winds and chop. Completed the full circumnavigation safely. Excellent race experience in classic Hong Kong conditions. No incidents or issues.
