Race results https://www.regattaman.com/results.php?race_id=858&yr=2025&rnum=4&eid=858&sort=0&ssort=13&sdir=true&ssdir=true There was a range of chaotic patchy wind, gusts from 10-25. One of the Vipers had their mast snap before the races. The starting sequence was very by the book, no drama. We reefed our Mainsail and had the job partially furled at the start. Other boats were doing the same. Two Dogs didn’t set all their foresails, no top’sl. The Sonar didn’t show up at all on Sunday. A little after the start, once we got out by squirrel island, we saw some porpoises and the wind sort of equalized. We shook our reef before the first rounding mark, started thinking about unfurling the jib. We unfurled the jib completely before the second rounding mark. Peggy took over the helm so Randy could make those adjustments. Saw lots of porpoises surfing the big swells. We crossed the finish line first and it seemed way ahead of the competition. Two Dogs put up a really good fight on the downwind, after calculations were only one minute behind us. They shook their reef and opened up all 3 head sails. We got first place again and won the trophy for our class.

The starting sequence was a “Need to clean out my shorts” situation. Randy and Nathan were weary of the maneuver Peggy was about to make, while she was saying “I got it”. Had to duck behind Two Dogs (Gaff rigged cutter bowsprit coming straight towards us!) and then dip back in the gap between them and the Sonar (very small gap and looked like we were about to crush the Sonar). But there was no contact and everything was fun and everyone was scared shitless but since Peggy was so confident I had faith in her. Randy had closed his eyes. We were first over the finish line, still first with time adjustments. Finished with a BHYC one design loaded with kids to port and a Viper to starboard.
