Return from Oceanside

no wind, marine layer, good food with Matt Orey. It felt good to have everyone along for the journey

Very windy day on the ocean with winds over 20 kts. We reefed the main and had a nice day on the water. Engine would not stop running, but we were okay with that and were going to deal with it at the slip. Where of course, the engine divinely decided it was time to stop running. Terry prayed and we reaped the benefits. Jim and Pat Brogan were on board today showing us all kinds of tricks.

A great day on the water with Keely Hoyt and a fellow Passage 420 owner, Pat Brogan. Good wind and the ocean was calm. Pat was a wealth of knowledge and a tremendous resource of anything to do with boats, sailing including traveling the world.

our day started on the hook in Mariner's Basin, a great place to wake up. Tons of fun activity and things to do. Terry went swimming and even fixed the shower head on the rear of the boat, amazing! The return sail to our marina went well. We played around with sailing down wind and got good at it after a while. Always a challenge with the swells causing the headsail to fold continuously. Thought about flying the new spinnaker, but went with waiting for more hands on board to try it out. Dinner at home was notable with sausages cooking on the BBQ, a first for the boat. Yumm! All in all, a great trip to Mission Bay. We want to do it again soon...

Day sail - Mission Bay to Harbor Island

Bit of a rough start: house batteries aren’t holding charge, so we tried rubbing the engine to start it. Then we shut the engine off and the starter battery stopped working temporarily. After letting the battery rest a while, it worked again. So we kept the engine on for the whole sail even when we put the sails out after leaving the channel. Overall, short and good sail!
