Original plan was to sail up the coast to north Spain, then cross the bay of Biscay. 1t night anchorage was going to be late due to increased northerly wind. We discussed and agreed on change to cross the TSS to the south & get the advantage of westerly winds into English Channel. All went well for 3 days. Day 4 winds were increasing and when we could get VHF weather forecast we discovered storm Amy was arriving. Furled the Yankee and ride out the storm for 36hrs. Winds were 34knts gusting 50. Seas rolling wave height mostly 10-12m. Broadside approx12 times. 2 times knock down. Took refuge in Gurnsey
